OASPA Participant Agreement

OASPA is a diverse community of organisations engaged in open scholarship. Our membership includes scholar-led and professional publishers of books and journals, across varied geographies and disciplines, as well as infrastructure and other services. We are a trusted convenor of the broad, global spectrum of open access stakeholders and a proven venue for productive collaboration.

We observe the following participant agreement in all of our convenings, in recognition of the importance of collegiality and respect in diverse communities.

  • We will strive to enable participation and inclusion from everyone in our community so that they feel they are able to contribute.

  • We will conduct ourselves in a respectful manner and treat each other with dignity and respect, regardless of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability status, physical appearance, body size, race and ethnicity, age, culture, religion, professional affiliation, or other defining personal characteristics

  • We will communicate in a way that is appropriate for a professional audience and be considerate of others

  • We will respect one another’s privacy

  • We will be kind to each other and will not insult or put one another down

  • We agree that harassment and exclusionary jokes are not appropriate. Harassment includes offensive verbal comments, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of discussions, inappropriate physical contact and unwanted sexual attention

  • We will contribute to discussions with a constructive and positive approach

If you feel you are the object of inappropriate attention, please contact Bernie Folan (bernie.folan@oaspa.org) OASPA Communications, Engagement and Outreach Manager.

Inappropriate behaviour may result in removal from the meeting/event.

Thanks to the Royal Society of Chemistry who developed the template participant agreement we have adapted.
