Last week we introduced a new way in which OASPA is using our blog – to be a space not just for our organisational news and statements, but an open forum for community engagement on issues related to open access and open research. This is explained fully in the post The OAPSA Blog: A Platform for Open Access Discussions.
We started with a post authored by a group of OASPA members. To expand this as a discussion with the wider community, today we have published three guest responses on our blog, from cOAlition S, COAR and Jisc.
It is important to note that each post reflects the views of those who have signed it or commented on it, and does not speak for other OASPA members who have different views.
Further comments and responses are strongly encouraged and welcomed. Please get in touch if you are interested in publishing a guest post. Or please do add a comment on any post – we want the blog to be the basis for dialogue much more in the future.
As explained in this post, “we want our members to feel that OASPA can provide a platform for them and to help them speak up about what is important to them. We want to host open and honest conversations about the realities of open access, inviting the whole open access community to join in and share their views.
We welcome thoughtful engagement and public debate in order to foster a transparent exchange of views, experiences and ideas between all those working in the open access ecosystem, with the overall aim of contributing to the global advancement of open access in a way that supports scholars and their institutions, and that gives voice to the whole spectrum of models and approaches within our membership and ultimately furthers our mission to advance open access and ensure a diverse, vibrant, and healthy open access community.”
Please note, authors of guest blog posts must be willing to allow moderated comments on their post.
