|Publication charge policy||There are no subscription fees for Open Access journals. Most journals charge the authors (or their institution or funding body) a single Article Processing Charge (APC) per accepted article, ranging from CHF 850 to CHF 1,600. APCs support publishing service costs. APCs are not charged until a paper is accepted for publication and do not affect any editorial decisions. The APCs for ‘Cellular Physiology and Biochemistry’, ‘Kidney and Blood Pressure Research’, and ‘Medical Principles and Practice’ depend on the number of printed pages.|
|OA articles||607 articles in 2012|
|Initiatives||Author’s ChoiceTM: authors can also publish an Open Access paper in any of Karger Publisher’s subscription journals for a fee using our hybrid option; see http://www.karger.com/Services/AuthorsChoice|
|Peer review policy||All Karger Open Access journals are peer-reviewed, and aim to provide the authors with fast and constructive feedback regarding their submitted manuscripts. Karger Open Access journals use an online submission and peer-review system to expedite the process. Every journal has a dedicated Editor-in-Chief and international editorial board to ensure a thorough peer-review and the highest scientific publishing standards. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible to ensure high quality peer-review of papers submitted to the journal and decides on the specific peer-review policies for the journal. See individual journal websites for more details.|
