|Copyright and Licensing Policy||Authors retain ownership of the copyright on their work and guarantee the publication of the same under the terms of a Creative Commons License (CC). The standard license level attributed is the 'CC-BY 4.0 Attribution', which allows others to share the work, provided that: they report in full form the reference to the original digital version; provide a link to the license assigned; and indicate if any changes have been made.
ECF proposes the stipulation of a publication contract for each journal article, each miscellaneous chapter and each monograph. Here, authors can individually decide to give their contribution a more restrictive Creative Commons license level.
Authors remain free to sign additional and separate contractual agreements for the non-exclusive distribution of the work in the version published by the journals or series, subject to compliance with the provisions of the previous point.
Authors are free to – and encouraged to – publish their work online before, during and after the publishing process, as this can lead to productive exchanges and relationships, as well as faster and wider dissemination of the published work. https://edizionicafoscari.unive.it/en/edizioni4/static-page/pubblicare-con-noi/#copyright

|Peer review process||ECF publications are evaluated according to rigorous scientific quality criteria, in accordance with best practices shared by research communities and international open access publishers. Journal articles or contributions in edited books or monographs need indeed to obtain the favourable assessment of at least two expert evaluators of the subjects, through a process of anonymous review (double-blind peer review) conducted under the responsibility of the Scientific Directions of each journals or series.
As for books exclusively, basing on the choices made by the individual advisory boards, texts or entire volumes deriving from conferences, or other contexts that have already passed an evaluation process, can be excluded from the double-blind peer review. In the event of failure to perform a double blind peer review, due notice will be given within the publication.
The Advisory Board identifies the reviewers exclusively from its own externals and it is recommended that they do not belong to the institution to which journals and series are affiliated. Reviewers must have an adequate curriculum and an appreciable number of publications, preferably themselves subjected to quality control procedures.
ECF provides all users with access to a peer review platform called ECFPeerflow, designed and developed by ECF itself.
Each article is uploaded anonymously to the platform by the Author and is assigned by the Editor-in-Chief to a pair of Reviewers. The Author and the Reviewers cannot come into contact with each other, not even indirectly, during the entire evaluation process.
The entire review process is tracked, stored and archived in the platform database, which resides on a server managed by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. Authors and Reviewers maintain access to the archive linked to their respective profiles, where a track of all the activities carried out is kept.
