May 19, 2015 by Claire Redhead

OASPA Members CC BY Use to 2014

Data for the above chart is available for download: OASPA Members CC-BY Growth_Data to 2014

A total of 543,611 articles were published with the CC-BY license in open access-only journals by members of OASPA during the period shown above, with 141,232 of those being published in 2014.

OASPA members were invited to share their data to update the previous post on this topic.

Figures for open access-only titles were supplied by the following members of OASPA as number of CC BY articles published per year since implementation of the license by that publisher:

AIP (2011-2013), AOSIS (2012-2014), BioMed Central (2000-2014), BMJ (2013-2014), Cogitatio (2013-2014), Company of Biologists (2014), Copernicus (2007-2014), CUP (2012-2014), ecancermedicalscience (2007-2014), eLife (2012-2014), Frontiers (2012-2014), Hindawi (2006-2014), Hipatia (2013-2014), Ideas in Ecology & Evolution (2014), IRPA (2014), IT Con (2011-2014), JMIR Publications (2000-2014), MDPI (2008-2014), NPG / Palgrave (2013-2014), OJAC (2014), OUP (2013-2014), Pan African Medical Journal (2012-2014), PeerJ (2013-2014), PLOS (2003-2014), Quanta (2012-2014), Royal Society (2013-2014), ScienceOpen (2014), Springer Open (2011-2014), SSPP (2005-2014), Ubiquity Press (2011-2014), UiT (2010-2014), Uopen Journals (2009-2014), WestJEM (2008-2014), ZPID (2012-2014).

This chart will be updated again in the future as more data is collected.

The data spreadsheet also now includes information we have from the same members regarding licenses used in OA-only journals other than CC BY, if applicable, as well as hybrid journal license information.

We are also pleased to be able to include data on the growth of the DOAB in terms of numbers of books and number of now covered.
