As a charity, we are governed by our Board of Trustees who may appoint boards and committees and delegate such powers to them as it may think fit. Our boards and committees are formed through elected representative members, who contribute to guiding and driving our strategies and activities.

Copyright and Licensing Policy	We offer industry-standard Creative Commons licensing for open access publication in all of our journals. We offer a choice of two Creative Commons licences: Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) and Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial (CC BY-NC). Authors may select the appropriate licence according to their funding body and research institute requirements or their personal choice.

Publication Charge Policy	The article processing charge (APC) for our hybrid journals is £2500. A 15% discount will be applied to APCs for corresponding authors who are either: RSC members or Member of a society which owns or co-owns the journal in which they are publishing (e.g. members of owner societies publishing in PCCP or Biomaterials Science), or whose institution has an agreed institutional discount. Peer Review Policy	We are committed to publishing high quality new work that makes a significant contribution within the scope of its journals. In order to meet this aim, submitted manuscripts undergo initial evaluation by an editor to ensure that they meet essential criteria for publication in the journal. Only those manuscripts that pass this initial review process will be forwarded to reviewers for further consideration. The reviewers’ reports constitute recommendations to the appropriate editor, who takes the final action on manuscripts submitted. The editor is responsible for all administrative and executive actions, and can accept or reject papers. Once a manuscript has been revised by the authors then it is the editor’s duty to see that, as far as possible, agreement is reached between the authors and reviewers. The reviewers may need to be consulted again concerning an author’s reply to comments, but further review is only undertaken when necessary. Acceptance criteria for our individual journals can be found in the journal specific guidelines.
Initiatives	Gold OA option is available in all journals. Deposition of authors’ final accepted version in an institutional repository is permissible with full text of article available 12 months after publication. Article metadata can be deposited in a non-commercial repository at any time after publication.Our Read & Publish scheme lets corresponding authors at eligible institutions publish gold open access in all hybrid Royal Society of Chemistry journals. At the same time, the institution will gain access to our hybrid journal portfolio.
